CBD and meditation: a contemplative approach and the limits of external props

Does CBD have a place in a meditation practice? A contemplative, cautious approach to what practitioners say and what the practice itself requires.

CBD and meditation: a contemplative approach and the limits of external props

Meditation is pure attention. It has worked for centuries without CBD and will go on doing so. The honest question is not whether CBD helps you meditate — it does not — but whether it has a place at the periphery of the practice.

Why no product meditates for you

Meditation rests on observing the mental flow, breath and body. No product does that for you. Calling CBD a meditation "facilitator" would mislead.

What practitioners report

At the counter, practitioners who mention CBD never frame it as a tool of the practice itself. They frame it as a possible element of the airlock — the moment before, the moment after.

  • A light infusion before an evening sit.
  • A moment after a retreat, to slow the exit.
  • A resin in the late afternoon, for morning practitioners.

The entourage effect, handled with care

You may read about the entourage effect and CBC, or emerging cannabinoids like CBDV. Interesting topics, but no molecule meditates for you.

The Horus stance

In our shops in Boulogne-sur-Gesse and L'Isle-en-Dodon, we will not sell a "meditation flower". We talk flowers, resins, terpenes — the practice stays yours.
